Prof. Dr. Ivo Leito

Presenting topic:

  • Basic concepts in Measurement Uncertainty

Ivo Leito, obtained his PhD from University of Tartu (UT) in 1998.

Starting from 2005 he works as professor of analytical chemistry at Institute of Chemistry, University of Tartu. His main research directions are on the borderline of analytical chemistry with other disciplines: chemistry of acids and bases in non-aqueous solutions; metrology in chemistry; liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry; sensors and their metrological characterization; applications of instrumental methods in analysis of historical objects.

He supervises research projects of degree students, teaches analytical chemistry and metrology in chemistry at all study levels and organizes training courses for practitioners on different topics of analytical chemistry and metrology in chemistry.

He is the initiator and coordinator of the Erasmus Mundus master's programme Excellence in analytical Chemistry (https://www.analyticalchemistry.eu) as well as web-based courses on measurement uncertainty in chemistry (https://sisu.ut.ee/measurement/uncertainty) and LC-MS method validation (https://sisu.ut.ee/lcms_method_validation/).

He participates in several international chemistry and metrology organisations (IUPAC Division of Analytical Chemistry, Eurachem, Euramet Technical Committee of Metrology in Chemistry).
